On Saturday, we got up a little earlier than usual, and headed to Portobello market. We looked at all the stalls, taking pictures and choosing things to buy. We ended up getting some jewelry at a freshwater pearl vendor, a secret lock box (which you had to figure out how to open), and some perfume at an all-natural perfume shop.
My cousin, Sonia, and her husband, Barkot, joined us as we looked through a few more shops. Then, we went to get dinner at Fez Mangal, a Turkish place with delicious lamb and bread. They also served a cheese that tasted divine and a yummy salad.
We walked to Sonia’s house, a little apartment that was cozy and modern. She gave us ice cream and drinks and we sat down and talked. Then we walked home.
On Sunday morning, we headed to the Holy Trinity, Brompton, an Anglican church that my cousins go to. The service was wonderful with a prayer time, fabulous sermon, and music that made me want to dance. Afterwards, we went to the little bookshop and café downstairs, which had a nice selection of gospel and God related books. Soon after, Sonia and Barkot (my cousins) led the way to Whole Foods, where we ate and then made our way to Starbucks, to get some coffee.
It was a beautiful day and very hot, so we decided to make our way to Hyde Park. We stopped and took pictures in front of the Kensington Castle Gate, a gate that was glowing gold in the sunlight. Next stop was the Serpentine. From afar, the pond was beautiful, but as soon as we stepped up to it, it looked very disgusting. We walked through some shady places, trying to get out of the heat, and bought some ice cream.
Later, some of Sonia’s and Barkot’s friends joined us – Loraine, Lamont, baby Linden, and Loraine’s cousin. Linden was the cutest thing. He is very chubby, though he only eats milk. We took turns holding him and speaking to him, because he loves to chat. The adults drank wine and chatted, while my sisters and I raced each other some more. Soon, we all took leave, wanting to get home before late, and Linden needed his bath. We took the bus home and ordered some yummy chicken and fries for dinner. Another fabulous day in London!
